On 27th June 1pm, Son Yejin arrived at Tone Hotel in Tokyo for the press conference that was held to promote the movie April Snow. Due to the fact that the media turnout was bigger than expected, additional seats had to be arranged. In the end more than 200 Japanese reporters were present at this April Snow press event, demonstrating the Japanese mediaกฏs immense interest in April Snow.Prior to the commencement of the press event, the latest video clip of April Snow was screened. When Son Yejin made her appearance after the screening of the clip, กฐSo cute!กฑ กฐSo beautiful!กฑ could be heard amongst the Japanese media.Below is the Q&A session between Son Yejin and the Japanese media:R: This time, you played the role of a married woman who experienced much pain and heartache after finding out about your husbandกฏs extra-marital affair. Whatกฏs your perception and understanding of this character?SYJ: The role in this movie is a woman who married young, sheกฏs about 26 years old. After her husband was hospitalized due to the car accident, she found out about the affair he was having when she was arranging his things.But even then, she continued to accept and bear the pain of the cruel fact. I feel sheกฏs someone who does not express her innermost emotions, sheกฏs a woman who keeps everything within herself, in her heart.R: How do you feel about your co-star, Bae Yong Joon?SYJ: He has a strong sense of responsibility,the burden on his shoulders is indeed heavy. But when heกฏs acting, heกฏs so full of passion and enthusiasm; he appears not to be affected by the heavy burden. In my mind, heกฏs a very strong senior. (bb: I believe SYJ was referring to Yong Joonกฏs mental strength.)R: What about your impression of the director?SYJ: Iกฏve been wanting to work with Director Hur Jin-ho for a long time. I really like the sensitivity and the delicate and detailed manner of expression in Director Hurกฏs previous works.R: Thereกฏs an intimate bed scene in this movie, do you have any special or interesting episodes to share with us?SYJ: This is my first time shooting a bed scene. But because the character in this movie is a married woman, so the bed scene is necessary in order to express the feelings between the two people. It calls for a different way of acting in order to use oneกฏs body to portray certain feelings and emotions; while itกฏs intriguing, itกฏs also very difficult. Senior Bae Yong Joon and I took nine hours to shoot the scene, because it's my first time, so itกฏs really hard. But weกฏve spent so much effort and energy to film the scene, Iกฏm also looking forward to see how the scene will appear in the movie.R: Does Miss Son Yejin share anything in common with the role of SeoYoung?SYJ: Basically, SeoYoung is very gentle, a part of what her character is like reflects my real self as well. I think we do share much in common.R: Director Hur Jin-ho is a director who places much emphasis on emotions and feelings, so did you go through a hard time during the filming?SYJ: The director is very particular about the realism of feelings, so we often had to shoot and re-shoot many times. Until the feelings of both characters could connect, we had to do many takes in order to make up for the scenes that were not satisfactory. What left me with the deepest impression was how we took seven to eight hours to shoot the scene of running into the hospital.It was very tough to have to continuously maintain those feelings. But the director said itกฏs best if we could cry naturally, but itกฏs also okay if we couldnกฏt bring on the tears. All the crying scenes in the movie were real; because we really felt the emotions within us,therefore the tears came quite naturally.R: How many people do you think will cry because of the movie?SYJ: I think people who have similar experience will definitely feel for the characters, people who have been in love before will also understand what it feels like.R: Miss Son Yejin looks more matured than your actual age, did you put in any extra effort in this aspect?SYJ: I didnกฏt do anything special in order to look more womanly. But up to now, the roles that Iกฏve played are mostly very feminine, so maybe thatกฏs why I look like this. Maybe itกฏs because Iกฏve played many roles that require me to think more deeply about love and also relationships between people?R: Are there plans for any action movies or comedies?SYJ: My next work will be a comedy. I will be challenging myself even more in a variety of genre in future.R: If youกฏre already married, and a man as wonderful as Bae Yong Joon appears, what will you do? And youกฏre the envy of many women as youกฏre filming with Mr Bae Yong Joon, what do you think of Bae Yong Joon as a man, and also as an actor?SYJ: I hope that I will not meet a wonderful person after Iกฏm married. If I have to meet someone wonderful, then please let that someone appear before I get married. As a man, Bae Yong Joon is very manly, and yet thereกฏs a sensitive side to him. As an actor, heกฏs full of passion; he also gives people the feeling heกฏs very strong.R: Itกฏs a very difficult thing to maintain the feelings required in the movie for a few months. How do you bring yourself back to reality?SYJ: Of course when I play roles that are more in-depth, or have a darker or gloomier soul, my own feelings will also go into the roles, but itกฏs really not that hard to revert to real life. If Iกฏve time, I will go for trips or read to forget about the role in the movie. This time around, I have to start filming for my next work immediately, so I donกฏt have the luxury of time. Iกฏve no choice but to quickly forget about SeoYoung, but Iกฏm sure which part, but a part of my heart doesnกฏt seem to want to forget about her. When I watched the video clip, I felt as though the feelings had sprung back to life.R: Miss Son Yejin has been called the กฐJewel of Korean Moviesกฑ, what are your thoughts on this? And also, if you have to describe your co-star Bae Yong Joon, then what would he be? What of the Korean Movies?SYJ: This is really too much of a compliment. While Iกฏm happy, I also feel undeserving of the title. If Iกฏve to describe Bae Yong Joon-ssi, then I would say heกฏs finer than jewel, heกฏll be the กฐTreasure of Korean Moviesกฑ.R: This time youกฏve played a married woman and itกฏs a tragic role, did you encounter any difficulty?SYJ: Because Iกฏm not married, the most difficult part is how to act like a married woman. Initially I was worried if I would look too young, but fortunately, it looked out well. The other difficulty is to portray the deep and heartfelt emotions.SourceฃบSTAR
